According to Freedom to Tinker, MA, TX, SC, FL, GA, AK, TN, and
CO have introduced similar bills that would make it illegal to
possess, use, etc. "any communication device to receive ... any
communication service without the express consent or express
authorization of the communication service provider" or "to
conceal ... from any communication service provider ... the
existence or place of origin or destination of any communication.
"Holy frell, Taco, we're gonna be criminals! I was checking out
Freedom to Tinker after reading the posting about that multi-
state anti-VPN- style legislation, and I saw a new posting that
says that Michigan has ALREADY passed such legislation, and it
goes into effect on MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2003

The Michigan law:
http://www.michiganlegislature.org/mileg.asp?page=getObject&objN
ame=mcl-750-540c-amended
includes:
(b) Conceal the existence or place of origin or destination of
any telecommunications service.
Fortunately, these devices and techniques were developed in free
countries; it's impossible for the neofascists to stop them now.
